Joe Gould's Secret

This is a surprisingly difficult book to rate. Some of the characters could have been painted with a little more color. while I'm a fan of this author, I found this book unsettling because I really feel that the story was about a man who had mental illness but not only was he undiagnosed but those around him were not at all understanding of his plight.Can't really figure out what the point of this book was. With Ian Holm, Stanley Tucci, Hope Davis, Sarah Hyland. The first, "Professor Seagull," ran in the magazine in 1942. This historical comedy-drama is based on the true story of Joe Gould, a bohemian eccentric who was a fixture in New York's Greenwich Village from his arrival in 1916 to his death in 1964.
