Of course, there's the all-female gang, The Lizzies too! In the near future, a charismatic leader summons the street gangs of New York City in a bid to take it over. This includes groups like The Furies, a baseball themed gang, wearing face-paint, dressed in Yankee pinstripes, and carrying bats! A gang called The Warriors are blamed for killing Cyrus as he gives his speech. It’s like the director watched Ang Lee’s Hulk and was inspired but didn’t realize how horrible that movie was.

Greater reference to the graphic novel are made with links between some scenes done via a comic book style fade in's and out's.

One of Hill's masterpieces, with a great sense of rhythm achieved through editing and a great direction where words are few and all the story is built upon a fantastic photography and a brilliant idea: New York as a dark jungle where you can lose yourself and end up in a living hell. A film I've always enjoyed watching hence went for this the original version as I've heard a lot of bad reports about the directors cut

Oh no! Adult life awaits them. That said, I dislike the opening narration, and the illustrated comic book inter-titles peppered throughout the film. Then, there's the Turnbull Ac's, a skinhead gang in a school bus! As for The Riffs, they're a militant army of never-smiling, serious, kung fu fighters! If you've not seen the movie a treat awaits you so buy it now and you'll love it. Drugs and weapons are uncool. With Michael Beck, James Remar, Dorsey Wright, Brian Tyler. The Ultimate Director's Cut will make the connection clear to any viewer in the opening narration. Luther himself, is memorable as being totally off the rails! The picture quality is simply stunning, with a crystal clear, razor sharp image that puts blu-ray transfers of most other 1970's films to shame (I'm looking at you Godfather part 1!). When big gang kahuna, Cyrus (Roger Hill), leader of The Riffs, calls a midnight meeting of nine representatives each, from a hundred different gangs, his vision of a huge, city-wide takeover seems like a great idea. It's an exciting, well-paced tale of adventure and courage against great odds.
