LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Department of Education and Arkansas Educational Television Network’s ArkansasIDEAS are pleased to announce the June 1 rollout of the first Science of Reading online professional development course. Would you like to learn science-based instructional practices for teaching the five components of reading in kindergarten through grade 3? Beginning reading skills are taught explicitly and systematically to children within an overall program of purposeful, engaging reading and writing.A worthwhile program of professional development will encourage expertise in the components of instruction while maintaining a clear sense of the complex whole to which those components belong.
