SEASON 2020 This Email is directed at everyone involved with VicSoccer. Seniors and reserve teams were formed and the club moved to Sunday afternoon Vicsoccer Division 1, playing home games at Flemington Road Oval in Flemington. The Premier League Morning Team and Over 35s won the VICSoccer invitational cup and the VICSoccer ladies were runners up in a closely contested final. Barnstoneworth United Melbourne is a family based community soccer cub that values participation and mateship as our core club values.Over 30 years strong, Barnstoneworth has gone from strength top strength whilst always maintaining the spirit of playing the beautiful game with our mates.Established when soccer was really just a passing thought for most people, today, soccer remains our passion and we are delighted to introduce or re-introduce others to the game we love.THE LOVE OF SOCCER CONTINUES TO DRIVE THE CLUB AND PARTICIPATION IN OUR CHOSEN SPORTSoccer continues to grow nationally year on year and today, soccer has more junior participants than the AFL.In conjunction with our Junior Club, we are delighted today to be able to offer a complete pathway from Junior Under 7s soccer right through to Senior Soccer and then the Over 45s so no matter the age, you can join the Legend of Barnstoneworth.We are proud to announce that Season 2017 saw a number of Barnies Junior players transition to Senior Football under the guidance of Charlie Egan to play vital and important roles for the Senior Team.Lead by head coach Charlie Egan, the Senior Men’s side won promotion to State League Four after their first season within the FFV system. Trojan Athletic was formed from very humble beginnings. This decision is based purely and simply on the health and safety of all people connected to VicSoccer and everyone in the community. The debut season saw Trojan take all by surprise and we were crowned Premier League Champions of 2012.2013 saw the adding of a thirds team to further strengthen the squad and membership base alike, but there were turbulent times on and off the pitch as the squad was hit by ill discipline and players leaving mid-year. While Soccer Star went on into 1990, I'm not sure there was a VicSoccer '90 as the paper didn't last beyond that year. As noted back in May, VicSoccer was the annual/yearbook of Les Shorrock's Soccer Star newspaper. A crisis meeting was held at the Doutta Goulla Pub in late 2013 to discuss the clubs future.With Liam Carolan and Ross Burnett joining James Talbett on the committee in time for the 2014 season, and Josh Cleary and John O’Halloran joining the committee soon after, it was decided that the club would need to be rebranded in order for the club to move into the future and be attractive to players, supporters and sponsors alike.The rebrand; which saw our trading name changed to North Melbourne Athletic FC, a slight change to our logo and the club’s home strip changed to a streamlined Green, Black and White saw instant results.In the 2015 season, foundation member Liam Carolan was elected President and thirds-player-come-reserves-coach Jay Phelan was named Senior Manager, with John Joyce named as his assistant. SEASON 2020 This Email is directed at everyone involved with VicSoccer. It didn’t take long for the club’s fortunes to change drastically. CANCELLATION OF SEASON 2020. There were some challenging times and precarious moments both financially and on the park; but at the start of 2011 two things happened; the committee, under the loyal stewardship of James Talbett secured JJ Holland Reserve, Kensington for training and moved to Newmarket Reserve (with changerooms and a shower), and Xavier Sloan was signed as the first team manager for the 2011 season.Much recruiting was done throughout the 2011 preseason and the preparation from the committee, new manager and players alike saw 2011 to be the most successful season in the clubs history to date at the time; from round 3 Trojan went undefeated for the remainder of the season, winning the league championship and with it promotion to the Vicsoccer Premier League, and astonishingly winning the League Cup from Division 1.No backward step was taken and Season 2012 proved to be just as successful. In a way it was a local successor to the Australian Soccer Annual's of Australian Soccer Weekly. Gordon dreams of Barnstoneworth being a great team again just like the Premier team of 1922, so in a last ditch effort, he rounds up all of the retired 1922 team members (who by now are geriatrics), and reunites them to play brilliant football once again.From these origins a number of football clubs under the name of Barnstoneworth United, now exist throughout the world.
